Description of the research topic:
A high incidence comorbidity of cystic fibrosis (CF) is diabetes, wich decreases life quality and life expectancy for CF patientes. Understanding the patomechanism of CF related diabetes (CFRD) is a criteria for developing novel therapies. Our objective is to investigate the relation of the exocrine and endocrine pancreas in healthy and CFTR knock out mice, using both in vitro and in vivo methods and establish the role of exocrine damage in the development of CFRD.
