Description of the research topic:

Gastroesophageal reflux disease are common in the western countries, with as high prevalence as 20% of the general population. In contrast, little is known about the Hungarian prevalence rates. The Neurogastroenterology and Motility Team in Szeged has a long experience in the evaluation of such patients. Recent studies are aimed to obtain information on the pathogenesis of esophageal complications and the mechanisms of esophageal defense.
