Description of the research topic:
The pathomechanism of acute pancreatitis is mainly investigated in animal models. Intraperitoneal administration of large doses of basic amino acids is used to induce severe acute pancreatitis in rodents, but the pathomechanism of the disease is unknown. In our experiments, we would like to investigate the mechanisms involved in the pancreatitis-inducing effects of L-arginine, L-ornithine and L-lysine.
