Description of the research topic:
2-Aminocycloalkenecarboxylic acids and their derivatives are versatile starting materials for the synthesis of alicycle-condensed heterocycles of interest from both stereochemical and pharmaceutical aspects. The beta-amino acids are not only important pharmacologically, but are also used as building blocks for preparation of modified analogues of biologically active peptides. Our research program is directed towards: Synthesis of heterocyclic compounds across ring-closure/domino ring-closure reactions by starting from unsaturated bicyclic amino acid derivatives and investigation of the retro-Diels Alder reactions of the synthesized heterocycles.
