Description of the research topic:

One of the most important tasks in computer animation is to provide tools with which we can move our designed models (or those that come from a 3D reconstruction process) or apply small or large modifications on them.

Obviously, in many cases, the commonly used and well-known techniques of computer aided modeling (e.g. Bézier, NURBS) can provide solutions to this kind of problems, but moving certain 3D reconstructed models can be a difficult procedure.

Nowadays, there is a growing amount of techniques, with which we can simplify this process, often by applying novel geometric models or their generalizations.

The thesis topic is about discovering the deficiencies of the existing methods through their thorough analysis, increasing their efficiency and developing new methods. The topic also includes the choice and the application of the right technique for specific problems.
