Description of the research topic:

: The neurovascular unit concept describes the homeostatic processes necessary for neuronal survival, these are based chiefly on the tight control of cerebrovascular microcirculation and astrocyte function. Neurovascular unit function plays an important role in neonatal cerebral function as well, in this project we do microvascular and morphological studies in newborn pig cerebral cortex in healthy subjects and also after experimental asphyxia.
