Abbreviation of location of studies: MOGI

Description of the research topic:

a.) Introduction
Image acquisition systems use different technologies which affect their possible applications especially in dynamically changing scenes. The spatio-temporal and spectral complexity of real life scenes require new approaches in both image acquisition and image processing especially in tasks where the images are used to analyse specific objects or processes.
b.) Aim of the research
The goal of the research is to analyse the existing image acquisition and processing methods and to develop new methodology to capture and process dynamically changing scenes in real life environment with special focus on sports related motion.
c.) Tasks
Understanding existing image acquisition processing methods for capturing motion regarding spatial, temporal, spectral and other abilities. (first and second semesters).
Development of a moving platform with different camera systems and the related image processing tools. Calibration of the system. (second to fourth semesters)
Image acquistion using the developed system of human sports motion within controlled (laboratory) environment. Processing the images to analyse motion. Publication on the system. (fourth and fifth semesters)
Further development of the system for use in complex real life scenes. Testing the system in real (non-laboratory) scenes and capturing sports motion. (fifth and sixth semesters)
Analysis of the data. Suggesting new concepts for sports motion capture in real scenes. (Sixth and seventh semesters)
Publication of results and writing of PhD thesis. (Seventh and eights semesters)
d.) Necessary equipment
Different types of image acquisition sensors, moving platform, motion laboratory
e.) Expected scientific results
New image acquisition and processing concepts in dynamically changing and real life scenes. New methodology for sports related motion capture.
