Description of the research topic:
States have various means at their disposal to influence and regulate the operation of companies. Besides taxation, the state sets limits to the decisions of companies by regulating the market and competition. The freedom of decision of companies depend to a large degree from state intervention as well. Based on domestic experience, it was realised that a government measure may have an impact on corporate decisions even if they do not affect the firms involved directly (e.g. in the case of nationalisation without precedence, acquisitions, etc.). The objective of the research may be to make a summary and synthesis of international literature published on the impact of a specific state regulation. The analysis of atypical impacts and impact mechanisms is recommended since it can be assumed that rather few scientific research has been made on issues like this. A further direction of research could be the identification of the effects of specific state regulation measures with the help of case studies, based on the operation and decisions of domestic companies. The objective of this research is to elaborate the direct and indirect effects of specific state interventions in the short- and medium-term. With the selection of case studies, the aim is to demonstrate the typical and the atypical reactions and consequences. The idealistic result could be a recommendation for the government that summarizes the positive and negative effects of specific government interventions. This could be a model for the preparation of government decisions.
