Description of the research topic:
The goal of the PhD research project is to perform advanced data analysis in financial systems, to create customer profiles and develop algorithms and solutions which propose the optimal set of services to customers based on their profiles. In the first phase of the project the PhD student will analyze the behavioral data about business and/or retail customers stored in the financial system’s data warehouse. A significant number (e.g. hundreds) of customer micro-profiles will be identified based on the analysis of historical data. The goal of the second phase of the project is develope algorithms and solutions which support the financial system in developing optimal customer-specific, personalized service portfolios. The results of this research will be applicable in the context of the following scenarios: (1) choosing the optimal next-product-to-buy strategy based on the results of the customer micro-profiling, e.g. offering a customized loan over telephone based on the big data analysis performed, (2) early identification of inactive customers or customers who are likely to reduce their business with the financial system and suggesting the optimal corrective actions, (3) optimizing the internal regulations governing the customized discounts and other incentives given to customers based on the analysis of their positive and/or negative effects, as well as (4) micro-profile-based optimization of the interfaces used for interacting with the customers in the digital domain (e.g. e-banking, m-banking), e.g. the ordering of screens in the e-banking system, or the contents of the dashboards used to summarize valuable information for business customers.
