Thesis supervisor: András Pályi
Location of studies (in Hungarian): Department of Physics Abbreviation of location of studies: BME
Description of the research topic:
Quantum computer prototypes are available for the public via the cloud, an example is IBM Quantum Experience. The task of the PhD student is to familiarize with the operational priniciples of quantum computing architectures (superconducting qubits, ion traps, spin qubits), as well as the real-life practical methods to use the available quantum computer prototypes, e.g., to perform research-level measurement and computing tasks. During these activities, the student will acquire a deep understanding of condensed-matter physics and quantum information, develop unique skills that are required for future quantum technologies, and perform fundamental research to advance a completely new paradigm in computing.
Required language skills: english Further requirements: strong background in quantum mechanics and condensed-matter physics; experience in programming
Number of students who can be accepted: 1
