The domestic cat is one of the most numerous and popular companion animals. Cats are involved in a complex system of interactions with their owners that resembles to the dog-human interactions from many aspects. However, as domestic cats were originated from a rather solitary than social ancestor, their evolution from the aspect of domestication raises several intriguing questions. In the framework of this PhD scholarship we will investigate such socio-cognitive abilities in companion cats that have already been proven to be fundamental in case of dog-human interactions.
