Description of the research topic:

We have recently published a detailed evolutionary scenario for the evolution of adaptive immunity in vertebrates. The goal of this PhD project will be to develop mathematical and simulation models to investigate selected steps of the evolutionary scenario. The central question is under what circumstances does selection favour the evolution of adaptive immune targeting?
