Thesis supervisor: Attila Hirn
belső konzulens: Péter Zagyvai
Location of studies (in Hungarian): MTA Centre for Energy Research
Abbreviation of location of studies: MTA

Description of the research topic:

In the past 40 years, researchers and engineers of the Centre for Energy Research, Hungarian Academy of Sciences have developed several advanced radiation detector systems for space dosimetry purposes and recently for studying space weather effects on board aircraft, stratospheric balloons, sounding rockets and spacecraft. The radiation measurements in space have been mostly conducted in collaboration with the Russian Academy of Sciences Institute of Biomedical Problems (IBMP-RAS), the European Space Agency (ESA), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) of the United States and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).
Candidate will participate in the comprehensive analysis, evaluation and interpretation of the latest measurement results. By collecting, fusing and analyzing the data obtained he/she shall develop advanced data exploitation techniques to get the most out of the multi-instrument, multi-platform space weather and space dosimetry measurements realized by the Space Dosimetry Research Group. Professional support will be provided to the Candidate by the Radiation Protection Department of the MTA Centre for Energy Research.

The applicant shall possess sufficient knowledge and experience in the field of nuclear techniques, especially radiation protection and dosimetry. He/she shall be able to work also independently, has new ideas and his/her English is sufficient for performing literature survey in the field. Knowledge and experience in C, C++ or Python programming language and the Russian language is also an advantage.

Required language skills: english
Further requirements:
The applicant shall possess sufficient knowledge and experience in the field of nuclear techniques, especially radiation protection and dosimetry. He/she shall be able to work also independently, has new ideas.
