Description of the research topic:
In the past years there’s an increased will of owners and veterinarians in the application of herbal-based remedies instead of traditional medicinal treatments. However the application of these products are generally based on the ethnoveterinarian knowledge without knowing the effectiveness of the treatments based on scientific research. Thus the application of herbal-based products is still controversial. The aim of the research to reveal the efficiency of these products compared to the traditional treatments and to determine the benefits and limitations of phytotherapy. We’d like to measure the possibilities of phytotherapy in the treatment of stress and respiratory problems in horses comparing traditional and herbal-based methods. The results may help the appreciation of herbal remedy which can lead to a wider application of research-based products and medicinal plants.
