Abbreviation of location of studies: MTA

Description of the research topic:

Gaia, the currently operational space telescope of the European Space Agency, regularly releases astrometric, photometric and spectroscopic results of more than a billion stars. In parallel, Gaia also publishes photometric alerts of unexpected flux variations. The PhD student will work on Gaia data of individual young stars and of whole star forming regions. The PhD project will also include the follow up of published alerts for pre-main sequence stars, by obtaining new observations of the variable source, then analysing, modeling, and publishing the results.

Required language skills: English
Further requirements:
Good knowledge of the physics of star formation

Number of students who can be accepted: 1
