Description of the research topic:
An increasing number of complex organic molecules, including prebiotic species, have been discovered in the interstellar medium, mainly towards sites of active star formation. To understand at which stage molecular complexity emerges is of key importance to constrain the chemical composition at the onset of planet formation. High angular resolution and large bandwidth observations with state of the art instruments, such as IRAM, APEX, ALMA and NOEMA are now able to provide an insight to the molecular enrichment of the gas during the star formation process. The scope of this thesis is to analyze spectroscopic surveys and assess the molecular composition of the star forming gas in great detail.
Required language skills: English Further requirements: Good knowledge of the physics of star formation
