Description of the research topic:
Executive functions such as attention and inhibitory control are of crucial importance in everyday functioning. Abnormal functioning of these mechanisms is implicated in many debilitating conditions such as Attention Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Autism, Addiction and Obesity. Unfortunately, these mechanisms are still poorly understood. The primary goal of the projects I supervise is to gain a more thorough understanding of executive functions and the underlying brain mechanisms in relation to normal behaviour and conditions such as (but not limited to) addiction and obesity.
