Description of the research topic:
Areas of research for the dissertation could include the analysis of those narratives of medium that came into being in the context of mass culture (gathering ground from the mid-19th century), and which may be analyzed from the following aspects: the formative effect of the medium on the message and the narrative; the primacy of the narrative model; transmediality; the interpretation of hybrid semiological forms and seriality; the growing irrelevance of the authorial function; the various models of diffusion besides production and consumption; the interpretation of the role of agents who, besides creators, play an important part in cultural production and dissemination (translators, publishers, distributors, mediators); the collective, and in some cases international dimensions of the establishment of cultural products; the questioning of the aesthetic/ ideological/ economical stakes of culture industry; active acquirement of reception.
