Description of the research topic:
Fungal diseases have tremendously increased over the last three decades. The frequency of invasive infections caused by Candida species has significantly emerged, prominently in immunosuppressed individuals. C. albicans is the most common species that is responsible for invasive candidiasis, however the incidence of bloodstream infections due to non-albicans Candida species has been growing worldwide. The aim of the PhD program is to investigate the virulence and the pathogenesis of these human pathogen candida species in the molecular level.
