Description of the research topic:
Economic development is one of the topics of economics which has a great relevance to the general public. Although in the area of economic development â notwithstanding the wide literature â there is not yet a single economic policy recipe that can be used effectively for all countries, but experience shows that the most significant, nationally owned, mainly industrial (from the end of the 20th century technological) enterprises played a decisive role in the development of all high-income countries. The economic policy of their mother countries played a remarkable role in the transformation of these enterprises into global players, supporting their strengthening in the international competition in a manner consistent with the prevailing economic narrative. This perspective gives a powerful approach to analyse the options of a semi-periphery countryâs economic policy to strengthen its nationally owned enterprises in the modern international competitive conditions based on the experiences of competitor countries developing in other regions, and to examine how the new, emerging business models of the Industry 4.0 era can contribute to that, as well as investigating the geostrategic role and geopolitical relevance of the elective economic policy instruments both in the present age, as in the case of potential scenarios for the coming decades.
