Description of the research topic:
The process of globalization, the appearance of knowledge-intensive industries and knowledge-based economies will increase competition and increase the importance of competitiveness.
Both incentive and supportive forces have impact on the decisions of the economic operators to use production factors, inter alia, the particularities of the institutional system, the role of state presence, regulations, and the subsidies and charges schemes. Apart from the traditional resources, the human knowledge, human capital and investment in human capital are becoming increasingly important. At the same time, the development of the conditions for sustainable economy and sustainable development raises the need for the use of natural and renewable resources. The research area is primarily concerned with the economic investigation of investments in human capital, natural resources and other resources, assuming a deterministic environment and risk. Research involves studying and modelling risk management opportunities, analyzing benefits and costs, which are difficult to measure. The research will focus on the discussion of the impact of state intervention, the role of state presence, its incentive-disincentive role, and the analysis of how effective management can contribute to the economic competitiveness of an economic operator (company, local government, state) or region.
