Description of the research topic:

The widespread penetration of Internet-based sales open new perspectives in consumer behaviour and corporate decision making. The availability of big data enabled new analytical methods and software-based decision support systems. Beyond the solutions supporting optimal corporate operation (targeted offers, personalised products, etc) a new potential has arisen to measure market risk, forecast business cycles and stock exchange movements, to quantify the sentiments in news, and in general to convert information content into quantified economic indicators and to harvest its benefits more extensively.
The research topic applies big data methods in a given corporate (or macro-level) environment to provide new results which can be implemented in practice, and to design new forecasting tools and methods linked to a non-conventional data assessment framework.
