Description of the research topic:
During the last couple of decades there has been a noticeably increasing competition among countries, regions and firms, and the main driving factor behind this competition is innovation. According to international surveys (World Bank, Eurostat, OECD, etc.), Hungary has a modest innovation potential. Innovation indicators are particularly unfavorable in the SME sector. What is the reason for this? The research will focus – beyond the usual factors (as for example the size of R&D expenditures, the extent and the level of development of the IT sector, the structure of the national innovation system, the quality of education and training, natural science educations, etc.) – on the less researched economic behavioral factors, which significantly affect the innovation activities on the national, the firm and the regional levels.
