Description of the research topic:
Nature friendly farming is essential for the conservation of biodiversity and ecosystem services of agricultural systems. Effective management needs research evidence and monitoring of interventions. The topic addresses the effects of farm management (e.g. crop type, fallow, grassland, hedge etc. proportion and management), presence of invasive species (e.g. Robinia, Asclepias) on biodiversity and ecosystem services, with special emphasis on pollination and nectar producing potential, within a landscape context. We involve local communities in a participatory way to contribute to the understanding and solving of conflicts related to land use changes. Such complex knowledge is needed to effectively protect nature.
