Description of the research topic:
The specific and non-specific (placebo) effects of sport-performance enhancing innovations and/or applications, such as special shoes, training devices, etc., will be examined in different aerobic and anaerobic form of exercises. The idea behind this PhD programme is to disclose the massive consumer manipulation through information priming that eventually generates millions (if not billions) of profits for industries selling "beliefs" and accompanied placebo effects. The outcome of this doctoral work should provide an exclamation mark for bodies regulating commercial activities to think about the concordance and discordance between the information provided with a product, its advertisement message, and the actual mechanism of action of certain 'gadgets' sold as performance enhancer.
