Description of the research topic:

Some regions of East-Central-Europe – partly due to their peripheric allocation – were standing away from regional development, but also thanks to this the natural and cultural values have been well preserved serving now as driving forces for tourism. In today’s strongly globalised world the preservation of the local and regional values is especially important. Derived from the two-faced characteristics of tourism – among others – with the spread of the easily acceptable cultural patterns tourism decreases local identity. At the same time tourism is based on getting to know other lands, cultures and authenticity is a very important attraction. So tourism plays an important role in the preservation of local values.
