Description of the research topic:
Because of economic and financial crisis, the European Union had to face a series of global challenges, which it could react only partially. As a result of economic crisis macroeconomic imbalances emerged in the Southern periphery of the EU, while the main structural problems of their national economies maintained. Besides the global recession further important challenges can be linked to the migration crisis and the result of the referendum of Great Britain’s membership in the European Union, which was held on 23 June 2016. Finally, it’s a crucial question how the single market will develop in the next future, in order to fulfil the demands of European consumers and the claims of the e-economy and commerce in the XXIst century.
I suggest that the dissertation’s topic should introduce one of the challenges (economic and financial crisis, migration, Brexit, the future of eurozone and economic governance) and its effects that the EU has to face.
