Description of the research topic:
Besides the evaluation of economic development of East Central Europe, it is crucial to analyse the reasons of economic backwardness by applying of a multidisciplinary approach. Special emphasis must be given on the economic consequences of the dismemberment of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. In order to understand the economic history of the region, focus must be given the impacts of economic sectors in the Central and Eastern European countries. Finally, the creation of the „Grossraumwirtschaft” in Central and Eastern Europe and its incorporation into the German war economy played an important role in the economic development of the region.
Taking account of the complex issue, I suggest that the dissertation should focus on the economic development of one of the countries in the region or to the evaluation of one of the economic sectors for the whole period.
