Description of the research topic:
The Hungarian flora is chemically and pharmacologically poorly investigated and represents a valuable, unexploited potency for drug discovery. Aim of our study is the evaluation of the medicinal plant potential of three selected Pannonian natural habitat complexes before and after human disturbance. Tasks of the applicant are: 1) Preparing of extracts for chemical screening of seconder metabolites of numerous Pannonian forest steppe specialist plants; 2) Screening of xanthine oxidase inhibitory effect and α-amylase inhibitory activity of these plants in vitro. Antiproliferative and antibacterial activities of the extracts will be investigated in co-operation.
