Description of the research topic:

The landscape can be analysed from several points of view; physical, ecological, social, economic, etc. everyone with different approaches, methods, and goals. However, there is one point of view quite forgotten, and is the landscape analysis from the point of view of the effects of the internal conflicts, especially in the developing countries. In the case of Columbia, there is no doubt, that the conflict has left its mark on Columbian landscapes and ecosystems. According to the Columbian organization Dejusticia, the armed conflict has been accompanied by bombings against oil pipelines, fumigations of illegal crops with glyphosate, chemical contamination due to illegal mining, the presence of armed groups and antipersonnel mines in protected areas, and the expansion of the agricultural frontier as a result of forced displacement, among other problems. This is how the doctoral research seeks to analyse the causes and effects of internal conflicts on the landscape, especially on the landscape of national natural parks and additionally generate a methodology for study, analysis and a model of conservation and restoration of the affected landscapes.
