Description of the research topic:

Standard types of curves and surfaces in computer aided geometric modelling are developed in the 90’s, these are curves and surfaces given by the combination of control points and basis functions: Bézier, B-spline, NURBS curves and surfaces. These are the curves and surfaces applied in standard CAD systems today. On the other hand, subdivison curves and surfaces are recently developed for animation purposes, where the basic idea is the repeated subdivision of a triangulated polyhedron by a specified rule, which finally yields a sufficiently smooth surface. The computation, generalization and application of these surfaces types to specified problems are in the focus of this subject.
