Description of the research topic:

A substantial part of translation problems are rooted in lexical issues. The characteristics of translated texts - translation universals - are also linked to the difference in the distribution of lexical patterns. The topic offers possibilities to research terminological issues, or the translation of culturally bound expressions and collocations. The theoretical basis for these is provided by relevance theory.
