Description of the research topic:
Solar UV-B radiation is rather a source of information and regulatory factor than a direct stressor. Our laboratory explores pro- and anti-oxidative responses to UV-B, both in model systems (indoors, in growth chambers) and under field conditions. The PhD work will include measuring ROS and antioxidants, various physiology parameters and research is aimed at exploring regulatory mechanisms behind the observed trends. Laboratory experiments will be complemented with field work, and the PhD student will be required to participate in teaching at MSc level in both English and Hungarian.
