Description of the research topic:
It is commonly known that the assessment and improvement of the satisfaction of software process compliance requirements in general and of functional safety compliance requirements in particular is a demanding and costly process. The special implications for software processes are reflected in related general and industry specific standards and even the popular agile approaches. There is by consequent an imminent need for the partial automation of software process assessment and improvement as far as possible.
The objective of this Ph.D. topic is the analysis and innovative application of emerging technologies for the partial automation of software process assessment and improvement. It is bilateral traceability which is the most obvious compliance requirement whose assessment is a candidate to be automated as a first proof of concept of special interest in heterogeneous tool environments.
The emerging technologies to be considered include Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration (OSLC) and the Semantic Web.
The specific technologies and requirements to be investigated and applied are selected in consensus with the applicant.
