Description of the research topic:

The research program is directed towards:
(a) synthesis of potentially bioactive functionalized beta-amino acids by ring-opening/ring-closing metathesis by starting from readily available unsaturated cyclic amino acids.
(b) selective and stereocontrolled transformation of readily available cyclic beta-amino acids by ring-opening/ring closing metathesis into potentially bioactive heterocycles or natural products.
