Description of the research topic:
This topic is essential in the development and future prospects of efficient imaging results. Nowadays, several techniques are applied in the field of imaging. The results of research regarding the conventional diagnostic methods as X-ray, ultrasound, CT, MRI, SPECT, and PET are used immediately in the medical practice. As the results of science suggest nowadays, it is not likely that any new method or technique that could modify the present practice in medical imaging might be widespread. The fast development of computer techniques, the main ways of progress probably will combine and use different markers, tracers and methods. These techniques could unite different methods, which would be more efficient in imaging. All the techniques have their own strengths and limitations. Image fusion or hybrid techniques can compensate the limitations. For instance, PET/CT and SPECT/CT are significant results of this development. In the near future, PET/MRI, PET/CT/SPECT, CT/MRI will spread widely, mixing technological combinations. Innovating of imaging, these techniques will be very important in research, in industry and medical use. The continuous development is very useful in clinical application, diagnostic and other interferences. The activity of program is engaged in research areas dealing with specific nuclear medicine subject and other fields of medical imaging.
