Description of the research topic:
The continuously increasing precision and capacity of computer data storage has opened the possibility to record the human communication in higher details. Some typical sources are social media sites, digital communication or computer processed archive materials. Several types of meta data are recorded with the textual content. These meta data (e.g. location, time, participants etc) allows to reveal further knowledge from the plain textual sources.
The PhD candidate will work on developing methods of analyzing text in natural language, extracting information and additional semantics from statistical patterns. The methods will combine tools from network science, time series analysis and computational linguistics.
