Description of the research topic:

In crisis situations people tend to use mobile devices and microblogging sites (Facebook, Twiiter, etc.) to request help and to notify relatives. On the other hand Foursquare, Facebook Places, etc. provide services for detecting and exploiting co-location of friends, relatives. In both cases there is an ad hoc knowledge sharing process, which disseminates new information acquired by one party, and enables the selection and consumption of collected information by all involved parties. The information may vary on a huge scale, as the topics (health, supplies, giveaways, instructions etc.) cover large, scarcely overlapping areas of domain knowledge.
The task is to leverage the Semantic Web and Linked Data to find new techniques for the above mentioned knowledge sharing goals. The expected benefit of the approach is to reach a generic methodology which makes knowledge sharing more effective, flexible and intelligent.
The work to be done includes:
-the analysis of previous knowledge sharing behaviour samples on microblogging sites,
-building of domain ontologies and mapping for information harvesting from other sources,
-evaluation of existing architectural solutions and suggesting architecture for the support of the above mentioned goals,
-developing an experimental platform for ad hoc knowledge sharing in dedicated situations.
