Description of the research topic:
For centuries management theory can be seen as a “culture free” theoretical approach. In the second half of the 20th century culture was slowly addressed as an important aspect and the 1980s can be labelled as the “cultural decade”. In the past years there has been a considerable interest by academic scholars in the role of culture for the economic vitality and innovation dynamics of regional economies. Cultural factors as crucial asset for regional economic development has been emphasised in the literature. Strong regional cultures can help to create conditions under which innovation and prosperity can flourish. Globalization, however, due to the "footloose" or “homeless” nature of multinational firms, can weaken the links between companies and their surrounding regions. On the other hand, regional development can also be positively influenced by global corporate cultures, especially in an era of “open innovation”.
The researches could explore
• Whether are the cultures standard or dynamic in their nature?
• How does the globalization influence the national cultures?
• How the leadership philosophy is determined by national and organizational culture?
• How do corporate and regional cultures interact and how do they influence each other?
• Which types of regional cultures are of interest to which types of companies?
• To which extent do regional and company cultures influence their commitment / embeddedness to the region?
• How to build the culture of organizational excellence?
