Description of the research topic:

Objectives: Production of biomass localized tipically into rural area and a great deal of possibilities are available to convert it into green energy. There are a lot of advantages for farmers to deal with this topic: it can extend the conventional market (in case of energy plants, species and plantations), it may contribute to reach value added (by-products), it can help to establish energy local self-sufficiency (for farmers, municipalities) and sometimes environmental protection (biogas-production) or job creation (manual technologies) could be regarded as the most important aim. Consequently, the recommended topic includes a very variable research fields, with a common point, namely that how can the topic contribute to the financial viability of farms, municipalities, or rural areas.

Research methods: The differential objectives demand differential approaches. Vertical evaluation, comparative analysis and the most up-to-date indicators of investment analysis are required in all cases. Working out of models to determine as exact and comprehensive as possible the complex development of rural areas may be necessary during the evaluation.
