Description of the research topic:
The Protestants of Hungary were natural allies of the Jews since the Reformed era till the end of Dualism and fought for freedom in various aspect of social and political life together for decades. In particular it is interesting to see the activities of the liberal Hungarian Protestants and the Scottish mission in Budapest and nationwide. The possible themes within this larger framework are conversion (religious studies), how religious ideas (Protestant theology and Judaism) were disseminated within in the in-take groups, or outside their own religion circle in across-groups, how mutual interest met or conflicting arose around religious, social and political matters (history).
The particular topic will be determined after consultation with the applicant.
