Description of the research topic:

Investigations related to virtual three-dimensional systems and to collaboration in such systems are important fields of future Internet research. The topic of this subject is connected to investigations of this type.
The aim of the studies is to develop three-dimensional systems, which make places virtually available and researchable, which are not accessible for the public. Such places can be ancient buildings, monuments, or other constructions closed for the public or even not existing nowadays. Also in this category are parts of old cities or other settlements and also archaeological excavations which are usually very interesting but cannot be presented, for example, in museums. The visualisations have to be prepared in such a form that all important objects of the places presented appear in the virtual world in the same form (and with the same physical properties) as they are in the reality (satisfying strong requirements of some possible scientific investigations, too).
The most important basis for creating such visualisations is the Virtual Collaboration Arena (VirCA) developed by the Cognitive Informatics Research Group of the Computer and Automation Research Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. This system provides a suitable three-dimensional platform for the realization of the aims above. It can completely handle the physical properties of the objects occurring in a space and it contains powerful tools for visualizing motion and movement.
During the realization of the research program, these tools have to be used on a proper and efficient way, and the necessary new methods and devices have to be developed.
