Description of the research topic:
The social demand for ecotourism has increased in the last decade. Though ecotourism is defined as environmentally responsible travel to natural areas, promoting conservation as well, these activities and projects are putting a higher level of pressures on semi-natural, natural habitats. In the recent years, the development of this sector has typically resulted in several new projects and elements in the landscape (bicycle paths, visitor centers, natural trails). More emphasis should be laid on the visual impacts of these projects, thus an assessment and evaluation methodology is needed to estimate and to judge the consequences on the landscape, and on its aesthetical value.
