Description of the research topic:
The relevance of search results retrieved by searchengines can be analysed using differen tmeasures (precision, recall, consistency of results over an extendedperiod, etc.). Relevance analyses can be carried out among teachers and students which focus on the qualitative and quantitative examination of search hits applying appropriate statistical procedures. Search results received forv arious formulated queries can be analysed with SPSS software and evaluated with suitable statistical methods. The purpose of the research is to elaborate a standard which measures the retrieval effectiveness of the searchengines used by teachers and students in a consistent way. Which reliable measures should be included in this elaborated standard to measure the retrieval effectiveness of the searchengines? In addition, a rich collection of search examples can be created correspondig to an apt model (e.g. the seexamples can be taken from everyday search and user practice.)
