Description of the research topic:

The preoptic area of the hypothalamus (Wu et al., Nature, 2014) has been identified recently as the major regulartory center of maternal behaviors in mice. Our objective is to determine the inputs that reach the preoptic area in rodents as well as to describe the neuronal circuitry that controls maternal behaviors. Molecular biological, behavioral, histological and electrophysiological techniques will be combined to reveal the molecular background of parental control in mother as well as in caring rodent fathers.
