Description of the research topic:

In this program, it is planned to investigate the experimental models of neurological disorders (such as epilepsy, stroke, migraine, extrapyramidal disorders) and the therapeutic possibilities with kynurenines and kynurenic acid analogues. It is known that excitotoxicity and inflammation are play importan role in neurodegeneration. Kynurenines (kynurenic acid, quinolinic acid etc.) influence neuronal cell dead and inflammation, too. Therefore, we plan to study the effects of the newly synthesized compound and physiologically occuring kynurenines in the models of neurological disorders.
