Description of the research topic:
Commutativity of matrices and linear operators is a fundamental relation in structures formed by
those objects that has a wide range of applications inside pure mathematics as well as outside
(e.g., in quantum mechanics). The aim of the doctoral work is to overview the relating knowledge
available in the literature and then to achieve new results concerning commutativity of
operator algebras, characterizations of central elements in operator algebras and characterizations
of single pairs of commuting linear operators.
