Description of the research topic:
Development of new enzyme-catalysed kinetic resoluion methods (a maximum yield of 50% enantiopure product) for the preparation of enantiomeric compounds, such as amino acids, amino esters, lactams and amino alcohols, through the enantioselective ring cleavage of the corresponding racemic activated or inactivated lactams, the enantioselective hydrolysis of amino esters or the asymmetric acylation of the OH group of amino alcohols. Synthesis of the racemic starting substances. Development of adequate analytical methods with which to follow the enzymatic reactions [using a gas- (GC) or liquid-chromatograph (HPLC) fitted with chiral columns]. Investigation of the biocatalytic processes, and identification of the most suitable biocatalysts and best reaction conditions, in batch and continuous-flow systems. Gram-scale resolutions (under optimized conditions
