Description of the research topic:
Transmissible Spongiform Enchephalopaties (TSE-s) or prion diseases are known to be caused by the misfolding and accumulation of the altered form of a native protein called prion, in the brain. However, it is not yet clear what functions the prion, and the recently discovered other prion-family proteins have in a healthy organism. The research plan focuses on elucidating the possible cellular functions and interrelation of the prion family proteins.
