Description of the research topic:
The aim of the project is the collection of proteins that are methylated on lysine residues and the building and detailed analysis of a database. Through the analysis we aim to characterize the biological functions of the proteins that are lysine methylated and the connection of lysine methylation with different diseases, like cancers. We will also use the collected data to identify new targets of the known lysine methyltransferase enzymes and provide accurate sequential parameters of substrate recognition. The PhD project relies exclusively on bioinformatics work, therefore the basic level programming knowledge is essential for the acceptance of the candidates.
Required language skills: English Further requirements: Advanced level molecular biology, Basic programming skills, basic Linux knowledge. Experience in Perl programming is an advantage.
